Abstract

Genealogical and historical study on Captain Juan Delgadillo, encomendero of Saña. His military services during the civil wars of Peru (battles of Añaquito and Jaquijaguana) and his appointment as corregidor of Piura are narrated. The article describes the foundation and prosperity of the town of Saña, its sacking by the pirate Edward Davis in 1686, and its destruction by a flood in 1720, which led to the rise of neighboring town Lambayeque. The descendants of Delgadillo are extensively detailed through the Carrasco del Saaz, López de Saavedra, and Salcedo families, linking them to noble titles and ecclesiastical offices.
