Abstract

The article documents the administrative process for the granting of four Nobility Titles of Castile awarded by King Carlos IV to particular persons of Peru in 1802, on the occasion of the Prince of Asturias's wedding. The initial loss of the Royal Order is detailed, as well as the subsequent application by the Viceroy, the Royal Audiencia, and the Cabildos (town councils) of Lima, Arequipa, Trujillo, Huamanga, Huancavelica, Tarma, Guayaquil, and Cuzco to propose meritorious candidates. The text lists the names of numerous noble residents as suitable candidates, including members of families such as the Orúe, Aliaga, Goyeneche, and Baquíjano. Finally, the titles effectively granted years later are mentioned.
