Inglés New study on American languages Carlos Alberto Romero reviews Pablo Patrón's work titled New Studies on American Languages. The book proposes the bold theory of a "Sumerian-Assyrian" origin for the Quechua and Aymara languages. According to the reviewed author, the influence of Semitic and Sumerian languages extended to the New World, merging with local agglutinative languages. Romero highlights that Patrón analyzes pronouns, numerals, and myths (such as that of the tempest) to find parities with Chaldean theogony and Mesopotamian words. Furthermore, the attempt to read pre-Columbian writing (iconomatic values) using a Sumerian key is mentioned. Although the reviewer acknowledges a lack of specialized knowledge to accept or reject the thesis, he praises the work as an exponent of national culture and the author's vast erudition.
